This image is taken from one of Camplin’s notebook drawings and relates to her exhibition at CAC. A poster of the same image was included in the show. The body-brain system is a transceiver of waveform information - when Camplin draws, she is decoding information transmitted to and downloaded through psychic communication. The features and qualities of feline beings include the ability to evade capture and the awareness that there is always a way in and a way out of any situation. In this sense it can be understood as a metaphor for radical evasion of control systems.

Bonnie Camplin was born in 1970 in London. She graduated from St. Martins School of Art London BA Fine Art, 1992 and MA Advanced Photography, 1996. Her solo exhibitions include Salty Water/What of Salty Water Portikius, Frankfurt with Paulina Olowska, 2007 and Lightbox, Tate Britain, London, 2008. Camplin was included in Strange Things Permit Themselves the Luxury of Occuring curated by Steve Claydon, Camden Arts Centre, 2007. In 2013 the ICA presented a screening of Camplin’s early films and she was the recipient of a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award the following year. In 2015 she was nominated for the Turner Prize for her 2014 presentation at South London Gallery as part of Anxiety Arts Festival. Camplin is represented by Cabinet, London and Michael Benevento, LA.
