NOT MADE? NOT CHOSEN? NOT PRESENTED?: 3rd Studio for Propositional Cinema Film Festival is a 4 hour programme of video and sound works loosely based on the recent exhibition staged by Studio for Propositional Cinema, of and around the work of Emilio Prini (1943-2016) [1]. Prini was Italian artist who, after initial participation in the foundational exhibitions of Arte Povera and conceptual art, largely withdrew himself from the art system, while simultaneously remaining active, mainly by insisting on this negation.

Organised by Studio for Propositional Cinema, the artists in the programme, many of whom were included in the exhibition, deal with aspects integral to Prini’s position: the exhibition as form, adaptation and the ‘original’ work, the apparatus of the image, and the politics of participation, publicity, and refusal.

This is the third in a series of nomadic film festivals organised by Studio for Propositional Cinema. Previous iterations took place at mumok, Vienna in 2015 and Kestner Gesellschaft, Hannover in 2017. The 2020 iteration is visible online via the website of Camden Art Centre and the artist-run streaming platform ORTVI.

ORTVI is an art streaming platform that offers a new model for sharing film, video, and time-based work. It offers viewers streaming access to a growing collection of film and video by artists. Unlike other platforms, ORTVI creates a collective economy that redirects profits to participating artists and curators. It offers an alternative to commercial distribution that supports artists and curators in the long term.
