London-based Brazilian artist Alexandre da Cunha takes up residency in the Artists’ Studio, creating new work for his exhibition in Gallery 3. His dynamic, large-scale sculptures improvise on the concept of the readymade and found objects: job lots from pound shops, surplus fabrics and recycled goods, reflecting on their histories and aesthetics. With a playful and humourous undertone, Da Cunha often incorporates plinths or pedestals into his work, examining classical ideas of presentation in relation to where the piece begins or ends.
Residency and commission supported by Outset.
